Acoustica Basic Edition

Songs or recordings may not sound the way you want them to, but this is not a reason to erase them from your hard drive. With the right tools, you can boost their quality and make them sound much better. Acoustica Basic Edition was created specifically for this purpose. The application places a good number of audio editing tools at your disposal, as well as various predefined effects. You can use them to clean and enhance songs or recordings, trim or convert them and much more.

Besides the Basic Edition, which is free, Acoustica comes in Standard and Premium editions as well, which have different features and price tags. The program works on Windows XP and all later versions, up to Windows 8 and it can be installed in a few moments. With a Pentium IV processor or better and at least 256 MB of RAM, Acoustica will work without any issues. Also, you don't have to install any additional audio codecs or other prerequisite tools.

Compared to other audio editors, Acoustica Basic Edition is much easier to use. The user interface has an efficient layout and it should not take long to master its controls. When it comes to importing sounds, you can either record yourself with a microphone or load an audio file, by clicking and dragging it from an explorer window or from the program's built-in file browser. Loaded audio files or recordings are displayed as two waveforms, one for each channel. In addition, Acoustica displays output level and volume meters, a phase correlation analyzer, as well as a FFT analyzer, on the same interface.

You can select a specific segment of the loaded audio track, by simply clicking and dragging over one of the waveforms. A series of basic editing tools, located on a toolbar, can be used on the selected segment, to copy or cut it, paste it, scrub the segment and more. Special effects are categorized on a separate window, on which you only need to select one and click a button to apply it. The available effects can be used to enhance audio tracks in various ways, adjust their volume, add volume curves and fades and more. Added effects are listed on the main interface and you can tweak them on separate windows. Each effect comes with its own configuration tools and with a series of presets.
